Resolve adalah proses menterjemahkan sebuah nama domain (misal: www.nanang.web.id) ke IP (Internet Protocol - misal IP dari domain nanang:74.125.47.121).
Ada beberapa provider yang sever DNS-nya sering bermasalah, mungkin karena overload atau sistemnya kurang stabil.
Google sebagai perusahaan internet raksasa telah berbaik hati untuk memberikan layanan geratis yang bernama "Google Public DNS". Layanan ini merupakan layanan yang dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif dari DNS provider penyedia internet Anda.
Saat ini ada dua alamat IP DNS yang bisa Anda gunakan, yaitu: 8.8.8.8 dan 8.8.4.4
Untuk pengguna Windows XP, Anda bisa memasangnya dengan langkah-langkah sebagai berikut:
Klik Control Panel - Network and Internet Connections - Network Connections
Pilih interface yang akan Anda seting DNS-nya, sebagai contoh pada Local Area Connection - klik kanan Properties
pilih TCP/IP dan klik Properties - setelah muncul TCP/IP Properties gantilah DNS. Seperti terlihat pada gambar di bawah ini:
